| Ricketts Maps Out Plans For Cubs' New Regime |
The Cubs' long-awaited ownership transfer is finally complete, and the stage is set for the Ricketts family to make its mark on an organization in need of a fresh start. New Chair Tom Ricketts wastes no time laying out his plans for the team, including a Wrigley Field renovation designed to improve the gameday experience for fans. Ricketts contends there will not be a "drastic overhaul of the team or the ballpark," rather his family will seek to preserve the "essential non-commercial atmosphere of a game at Wrigley." Ricketts admits he hopes to show off the Wrigley renovations by hosting the All-Star Game in '14, the ballpark's 100th anniversary. But the family's number one priority for the Cubs is winning, and Ricketts hopes to follow the formula under which the Red Sox won two championships in four years while adding several new revenue streams at aging Fenway Park.
