| Passion For NFL On Display In London Yesterday |
It is being called the NFL’s “worst idea since somebody decided it would be great to play a Super Bowl in Jacksonville." It “feels like that annual visit to a weird uncle's house: compulsory, underwhelming and mildly inexplicable.” It “means nothing,” and it is a “stupid thing.” This is among the passionate response to the NFL’s annual foray to London, which continually is met with high levels of opposition. But despite such media outcry, one should not expect the NFL -- or any of the major leagues for that matter -- to cede their international strategy. For them, it is one of the keys to new revenue and future growth, and now the NFL is looking at doubling the number of games in the U.K., perhaps as early as '10.
