Kyle Busch-Joey Logano Fight In Vegas Dominates NASCAR News

NASCAR "will review TV and video footage of a post-race fight between drivers Kyle Busch and Joey Logano." Immediately after yesterday's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Busch "walked briskly down pit road to where Logano had parked." He "walked directly up to Logano and threw a right punch that appeared to connect." As Busch was "escorted away, he appeared to be bleeding from a cut on his face" (MOTORSPORT.com, 3/12).

After the race, "everybody was talking about the fight and little else" (ESPN.com, 3/12). The AP writes, "Nothing beats a good old-fashioned brawl to get everyone buzzing." Race winner Martin Truex Jr. "came into the media center and was asked" about the brawl. Truex asked, "Who won? ... I'm sure NASCAR is going to love that one" (AP, 3/13).

ABC’s “GMA” and NBC’s “Today” both reported on the fight early in the second hour of their broadcasts, while “CBS This Morning” aired a short report about 30 minutes into its broadcast. NBC’s Matt Lauer said, “Things got a little hot under the helmet in a NASCAR race in Las Vegas. ... Stay tuned: NASCAR season just getting started.” ABC’s Paula Faris: “At the NASCAR race in Las Vegas, it got ugly.” CBS’ Gayle King said Busch “walked right up and smacked him” (THE DAILY).
