NBC's Prime-Time Rating For Wednesday Below Athens

NBC is averaging a 16.9/29 national rating and 29.0 million viewers through 13 prime-time telecasts of the Beijing Olympics, up 7.0 percent over a 15.8/27 for the same period at the 2004 Athens Games. The 16.9 rating is the best prime-time mark through the second Wednesday for a non-U.S. Summer Olympics since a 17.9/34 for the 1992 Barcelona Games.

NBC on Wednesday earned a 15.2/26, down 0.7 percent from a 15.3/26 for the comparable night in Athens. The network averaged 24.8 million viewers for the night, up 2.1 percent from 24.3 million average viewers for the comparable night in Athens.

NBC has drawn 206 million total viewers during its coverage, surpassing the 16-day total of 203.9 million viewers for the 1994 Lillehammer Games and making it the second-most-viewed TV event in U.S. history, behind the 209 million total viewers for the entire 1996 Atlanta Games.

NBCOlympics.com has drawn 1.04 billion page views for the Beijing Games, nearly double the 561.1 million total page views for the Athens and 2006 Turin Games combined.
