Tampa Sports Authority (TSA) officials said that pat-downs at Raymond James Stadium during Buccaneers games “are not likely to return this season because of the time it will take the legal case involving them to go through appeals.” TSA Exec Dir Henry Saavedra: “There will be no patdowns this season, and it won’t be resolved this year.” Buccaneers season-ticket holder Gordon Johnston sued the TSA last month contending that the pat-downs violate constitutional rights (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 11/15).

ARIZONA ICED: Chase Field and Scottsdale Stadium have officially been awarded first-round games featuring the U.S., Mexico, Canada and South Africa for the inaugural World Baseball Classic in ’06 (MLB.com, 11/14).

ISLAND DREAMS: Michael Printup, who is leading ISC’s lobbying efforts to gain approval for a new track on Staten Island, said that last week’s local elections “were a big plus for the cause.” Printup: “All the incumbents won. The three city-council people won, and the borough president won, which is good for us” (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 11/14).
