Media Notes

Cablevision viewers missed the first period of OLN’s coverage of Canadiens-Rangers last night, and then did not have audio for the last two periods. Cablevision spokesperson Jim Maiella said that there were “‘technical problems in getting the signal up’ that caused the game not to be shown during the first period.” Alternate programming was shown initially, before giving way to a blank screen (NEWSDAY, 11/1).

ACC GOES NORTH: NESN and the ACC signed a multi-year, multi-sport rights agreement that includes men’s and women’s basketball and conference championship games for men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey and women’s basketball. The men’s basketball schedule features 37 games, with nine involving Boston College (BC). The women’s schedule includes 16 games, with two BC games (NESN). In Boston, Scott Van Voorhis notes the move “comes just months after [BC] hired Fenway Sports Group ... to help BC boost its marketing and corporate sponsorship take on the heels of joining” the ACC. Fenway Sports Group is a business venture launched by the Red Sox (BOSTON HERALD, 11/1).
