Redskins Ink Four-Year RSN
Deal With Comcast SportsNet
|
Comcast SportsNet (CSN) has signed a four-year agreement with the Redskins to
become the team’s official RSN. Under the deal, CSN gains production and simulcast
rights for preseason games and exclusive programming elements throughout the season.
CSN will produce and televise three preseason games, to be simulcast on CSN and
WUSA-CBS. “Redskins Post Game Live” will follow each regular-season game. The
net will also have exclusive access to programming produced by the team for Redskins.com,
which will be available on Comcast’s VOD service (CSN). In DC, Eric Fisher
notes CSN signed a one-year deal last year to produce and distribute Redskins
preseason games, taking over for WRC-NBC. CSN VP/Communications Chris Helein said,
“In concept this is similar to what we were doing with the team last year, but
it’s for the four years, and it brings in many more elements such as the [VOD]
feature. It’s a big deal for us” (WASHINGTON
TIMES, 7/27).
