Spike TV and The Ultimate Fighting Championship Organization inked a two-year partnership involving a second and third season of the reality series “The Ultimate Fighter.” Production for the second season will begin in early June and consist of eight heavyweights and eight welterweights. The deal also includes six live fight cards, two in ’05 and four in ’06, in addition to 26 hour-long episodes of an untitled series of highlights from the UFC footage library (Spike TV).

DEAR DIARY: Brewers minor league prospect Rickie Weeks, who currently is with the Triple-A PCL Nashville Sounds, will write a “rookie diary” for SI, beginning with next week’s issue (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/4)....The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences announced that WhatIfSports.com, a Web site that offers “simulated competition involving past and present teams and players,” won the Webby Award, and ESPN.com won The People’s Choice Award at the 9th Annual Webby Awards (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 5/4).
