London Downsizing
Olympic Stadium Plans

In L.A., T.J. Simers reports the L.A. Times sign above the Angels Stadium scoreboard “was blue all season long, but Wednesday night it had been redone and was now Angel red.” The Times “apparently agree[d] that it would finance the color change if the Angels made the playoffs” (L.A. TIMES, 10/7).

NOT FOR SOCCER: London Mayor Ken Livingstone indicated that the proposed Olympic stadium will be “downsized to provide the capital with a world-class athletics facility rather than being passed on” to a soccer club after the 2012 Olympics. In London, Paul Kelso reported West Ham United was “the most likely tenant.” Livingstone, on downsizing the project: “It will engage the IOC because it’s the sort of facility that will attract world-class sporting events to London in the future” (London GUARDIAN, 10/6).
