Pat Tillman Jersey Sales Will Now Benefit His Foundation

NFL Lifts Tillman
Jersey Shipment Ban

The NFL and the NFLPA will donate proceeds from the sale of the late Pat Tillman’s Reebok Cardinals jersey to the Pat Tillman Foundation. The jerseys will be sold at Sun Devil Stadium, azcardinals.com, NFLShop.com, and military bases around the world with a specially designed hologram to guarantee authenticity. Additionally, all NFL players will wear a No. 40 decal on their helmets during Week Two this season (September 19-20) to honor Tillman (Cardinals). ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell noted the NFL is lifting a ban on shipments of jerseys with “Tillman” on the back, a measure taken in April to “cut down on profiteers who were ordering blank Cardinals jerseys and getting them personalized with Tillman’s name and No. 40 on the back before selling them at a premium in online auctions.” Tillman’s brother-in-law & Pat Tillman Foundation Exec Dir Alex Garwood: “We heard from so many people who wanted to buy his jersey, and now they can buy it with the profits going to his foundation” (ESPN.com, 8/31).
