Donald Dell Recovering After Emergency Heart Surgery

By Daniel Kaplan, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal

Clear Channel Entertainment Senior VP DONALD DELL, 66, hopes to be released from a London hospital this week after suffering an aneurysm on his aorta during the Wimbledon fortnight. SFX spokesperson AUDREY DENOFRIO said that during the middle of the second week of Wimbledon, Dell began to experience stomach pains. A hospital initially diagnosed it the flu, but Dell later called his personal physician, who advised him to get a CAT scan. The scan showed the aneurysm, and he underwent emergency surgery July 1. He is feeling well and expects to make a full recovery. Dell's firm, ProServ, was acquired in '99 by SFX Sports Group, and Dell remains active advising SFX' tennis division (THE DAILY).
