Burk Continues Challenge

NCWO Chair MARTHA BURK said Augusta National member and Citigroup CEO SANDY WEILL was challenged on the issue of all-male membership in his company's stockholder meeting last week. Burk: "I'm hearing from women at J.P. Morgan and Chase as well" (BOSTON HERALD, 4/20)....TIGER JAM VI PRESENTED BY COCA-COLA, held Saturday in Las Vegas, raised over $1M for the TIGER WOODS FOUNDATION. The event featured BON JOVI and a live and silent auction, among other things (THE DAILY)....JEFFREY DICKSON, the former personal driver for Ravens Owner ART MODELL, is suing Modell for $200,000 in compensatory damages and $1M in punitive damages, "saying he was unjustly fired last year after taking a few days off from work for medical reasons." Dickson, whose salary was $43,000, was fired by Ravens President DAVID MODELL last July after he was unable to work due to taking a physician-prescribed narcotic painkiller (Baltimore SUN, 4/22)....Lakers C SHAQUILLE O'NEAL's wife SHAUNIE gave birth Saturday to the couple's third child, a son named SHAQIR RASHAUN (L.A. TIMES, 4/20)....CO SKI RESORTS had an 18% jump in business in December from December '01, but "that quickly faded to what many expect will be a season only slightly better than" last season's 11.1 million visitors. The "mid-season tally revealed a slowdown" at destination resorts due to the economy and pending war (DENVER POST, 4/20)....The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Liz Mullen reports that NFL prospect DENNIS WEATHERSBY, a CB last year for OR State projected in the late-first early-second round who was shot in the back Sunday, "will be released from the hospital by Wednesday and will be cleared for full contact practice within six weeks." Premier Sports Management President GARY UBERSTINE, Weathersby's agent, said, "I am hopeful if we give all the information to the teams they will come to the same conclusion that we have, which is this is not an injury that will have any kind of impact outside the first six weeks" (SPORTSBUSINESSJOURNAL.com, 4/22).
