IS THE VOTAW MANDATE PAYING OFF? In L.A., Thomas Bonk writes Annika Sorenstam "spent a lot of time" at the Masters with Nike Golf reps, including President Bob Wood, who said that there is "no deal in the works, yet." Wood: "She wears the shoes because she likes us. I think she has got her eye on what we do" (L.A. TIMES, 4/25)....LPGAer Jill McGill, on finishing second in the Playboy.com sexiest golfer poll: "The whole Playboy.com thing was a lot of fun for our tour. All the girls got a chuckle when it came out." McGill said while she decided not to pose for the magazine, "I wasn't completely opposed to the idea. ... I spoke with my sponsors about it, I spoke with my family about it, and for something like this I think you need 110% support" (ESPN, 4/24).

SOCCER: ITV has inked foreign exchange company Travelex as a sponsor of its World Cup coverage under a US$4.36M deal. The deal includes broadcast and Web site sponsorship, as well as branding on ITV's World Cup marketing (London GUARDIAN, 4/24)....Powerade and McDonald's have signed on as co-title sponsors of the All American High School Soccer Game for boys and girls, to be held June 15 on Daniel Island, SC. Event proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Rotary Gift of Life, both of which provide health care services for children (Sports Event Int'l).

NOTES: In Atlanta, Scott Leith reports Coca-Cola's "long-awaited launch of a new ad campaign for Coke Classic has been put on hold." Instead of a "big campaign for Coke Classic this spring, the company is likely to wait until late summer or early fall to replace its lackluster 'Life tastes good' ads" in the U.S. (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/25) ....In S.F., Ron Leuty reports CA-based Ballena Technologies has inked a seven-year deal with the NBA and WNBA to provide its online, three-dimensional service to teams (S.F. BUSINESS TIMES, 4/22)....Triathlon athlete Scott Molina has signed a rep deal with S.F.-based eVolve Strategy (eVolve).
