The CHICAGO SUN-TIMES' Elliott Harris reported that WI-based American Girl, a company that produces educational toys and dolls for girls, which promote traditional values, "is coming to Wrigley Field as part of its first baseball promotion." On July 16, the Cubs will give away a baseball hat and jacket to the first 5,000 girls ages 14 and younger. The items come in a cranberry box and will only be available at Wrigley Field. The jacket "is quilted on the inside and looked good enough to wear if you were as small as an American Girl doll." American Girl PR Manager Julie Parks, on the promotion: "It's great exposure. The whole idea of family. Spending quality time together is a value we like to promote through American Girl. That's what I think baseball is trying to do, too." Chicago is the only city with an American Girl Place store and visiting there "can be as overwhelming as a first visit to Wrigley" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/24).
