After Only Six Months, Maloof Brothers Boxing Closes Doors
MALOOF BROTHERS BOXING, a "managerial company established earlier this year to help further the careers" of Albuquerque boxers MAX HEYMAN and DANNY ROMERO, is "being dissolved," according to Rick Wright of the ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL. NBA Kings co-Owner JOE MALOOF said that the "venture was a mistake." Maloof said, "We really didn't know what all (the boxing business) entailed. It's a very difficult business. You have to be actively involved on a daily basis, or it's not going to work. And we were already very busy. There just weren't enough brothers to go around" (ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL, 12/9). GUY RIORDAN, a partner in the venture, said that Heyman and Romero have been "released from their contracts" (AP, 12/9).
