In Boston, Greg Gatlin reports that "in a patriotic gesture following" last week's terrorist attacks, NFL players will wear on the sidelines this season "team caps bearing American flags and supplied" by Reebok Int'l. Reebok spokesperson Denise Kaigler said that Reebok will supply caps to the 26 NFL teams it outfits this season. Kaigler said the caps will not be sold to the general public. NFL Dir of Corporate Communications Brian McCarthy said players, coaches and other sideline personnel "will wear the caps ... if they wish" (BOSTON HERALD, 9/19).

NOTES: The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Vanessa O'Connell reports TV nets lost an estimated $320M in ad revenue "in the days immediately following last week's terrorist attacks" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 9/19)....76ers Exec VP Dave Coskey and VP/Marketing Lara White shot a commercial in N.Y. last week with Dr. Ruth Westheimer promoting group sales. Dr. Ruth, in the ad: "I've always believed it's more fun in groups" (Stu Bykofsky, PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 9/19). ...U.S. Gold-medal winning gymnast Kerri Strug said it was "prestigious" to be in an ad for ESPN's "SportsCenter." Strug: "I had heard about the 'SportsCenter' commercials and I knew that it was a privilege to be there" (ESPN, 9/18).
