Thrill-Seeker Croce Says He Wants To Run Comcast-Spectacor

Five years after becoming 76ers President, Pat Croce said yesterday that he "now has his eyes on" becoming CEO of Comcast-Spectacor, according to Stephen Smith of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. Croce: "I believe I can add significant value to the entire Comcast-Spectacor company. So I told [Comcast-Spectacor Chair Ed Snider] that I want to run the whole ... company. The Flyers. The Sixers. The arenas. Everything. I want to be the chief executive officer, with Ed Snider and [Comcast President] Brian Roberts as my bosses." Smith adds Croce has worked as 76ers President without a written contract "since the day he arrived." He owns nearly 2.5% of Comcast-Spectacor, worth about $20-25M, and "was looking to renegotiate a new deal." But Smith writes that it is "unclear whether Snider is likely to accede to Croce's wish" (PHILA. INQUIRER, 7/12).
