CARDINALS HOPE PLAN PUTS HOME TEAM FANS IN SUN DEVIL SEATS

For this year's Cardinals-Cowboys game on September 7,
everyone from "grass-roots fan groups that meet on the
Internet to bigwigs in the Cardinals front office has
concocted a plan to put red-clad fans in Sun Devil Stadium,
where those wearing Cowboys' blue traditionally occupy about
half of the 73,273 seats," according to Lee Shappell of the
ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The grass-roots effort is called
C.A.R.D.S. W.I.N., for Capture All Remaining Dallas Seats --
Whatever Is Necessary. The plan was "spawned" on Cards
Corner, the Cardinals message-board area on Arizona Central,
the Arizona Republic's Web site at www.azcentral.com.
Campaign Coordinator Dave Baker said that more than 1,000
tickets have already been sold through a "campaign of
massive e-mailings, strategically distributed fliers to
season ticket holders, and by word of mouth." Baker has set
up an e-mail address for those who want to talk about the
campaign at CARDSWIN97@aol.com. Baker: "E-mail has been a
real easy way to do this. It was a way to get people
involved that didn't cost a dime. We've been able to do it
on a shoestring budget" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 7/25).
