Facility Notes

In New Orleans, Andrew Lopez reports Democratic strategist James Carville is "actively trying to bring" a potential Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout to the Superdome. Carville: "This fight could signal a rebirth for boxing and the city of New Orleans." A Top Rank official "confirmed that New Orleans is a potential place for the fight but pointed out that there is no shortage of venues vying to get the contest." Reps from Yankee Stadium, the Meadowlands and Citi Field have "contacted Top Rank about hosting the fight," while Staples Center has "also been mentioned as a possibility." Another "interesting place for the fight is Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, which could hold more than 100,000 people for a boxing match" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 11/24).

Proposed NFL Stadium In Industry Drawing
Interest From Potential Ticket Buyers
FIELD OF DREAMS: A PASADENA STAR NEWS editorial notes Majestic Realty said that it has "received requests for 105,000 season tickets from pro-football hungry fans" for the developer's proposed NFL stadium in Industry, California. This is for a "75,000-seat stadium in which only 58,000 seats will be allotted as season seats." This "substantial show of interest ... is testament to the tremendous appeal of a stadium in the east San Gabriel Valley." It is "a lot of interested fans whispering in the future NFL team owner's ear: 'If you build it, we will come'" (PASADENA STAR NEWS, 11/24).

JOB OPENING: In New York, Paul Post reported NYRA is "looking for a construction manager to help plan and oversee Saratoga Race Course grandstand improvements." An ad "invites firms to bid on up to" $100M in projects NYRA is "considering when money becomes available from Aqueduct Race Track's proposed racino" (THE SARATOGIAN, 11/23).
