CANCELLED: ISL CEO RESIGNS AFTER BEING TOLD TO SLOW DOWN

Sources "inside the company and out" say that ISL's
"strategy of aggressively acquiring commercial rights to
major sporting events and organizations is likely to
decelerate" after the resignation of parent ISMM Group CEO
HEINZ SCHURTENBERGER last month, according to Daniel Kaplan
of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. One reason Schurtenberger
left ISL "in favor of" new CEO DANIEL BEAUVOIS is that he
did not want "to pull in the reins on [ISL's] acquisition
pace." Kaplan reports that while Schurtenberger's
resignation "will likely put a damper on ISL's furious pace
of rights acquisitions," it will "likely not affect" ISL's
"current negotiations with CBS Sports to obtain NCAA
basketball marketing rights for more than $800 million"
     (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/6 issue).
