MLS DC United President & CEO Kevin Payne said that the team "has engaged in serious talks with a Virginia jurisdiction about a new stadium." Payne did not identify the city or county, but he said that the "stadium site would be outside the Capital Beltway." When asked about the prospects of remaining in the city, Payne said, "We are quietly looking in DC. We have a couple ideas about how to go about it, but nothing close to going public about" (Steve Goff, WASHINGTONPOST.com, 10/26).

Philadelphia Union Partnering With Iomedia To
Create "Virtual Seat Selector" For New Stadium |
SALES PITCH: The PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL's John George reports the expansion MLS Philadelphia Union have "formed a partnership" with N.Y.-based Iomedia Inc. to "create a three-dimensional 'virtual seat selector' that will provide a full 360-degree view from seats and various stadium locations at the soccer team's 16,500-seat stadium now being built in Chester." Sponsors and advertisers "will have the ability to select the most prominent locations for advertisements and signage," and the technology "will debut on the Union's Web site later this fall." Iomedia has "previously worked with" the Yankees (PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/23 issue).
RUMOR MILL: In Indianapolis, Curt Cavin wrote he has "heard every rumor" regarding the potential sale of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including possible suitors such as ISC, Penske Racing Owner Roger Penske and SMI Chair & CEO Bruton Smith, as well as a joint bid from Vision Racing co-Owner Tony George and Menards Owner John Menard.
