ISC Offering More Promos, Discounted Tix For '10 NASCAR Season

ISC Execs Making It Clear Fans Should
Expect To Be Wooed To The Tracks In '10
ISC this NASCAR season has offered “promotions, incentives and discounted ticket prices,” and company execs have “made it clear that fans should expect to be wooed with even more enticements in 2010,” according to Erik Spanberg of NASCAR SCENE. ISC President John Saunders: “We need to be creative and aggressive in getting our fans to purchase tickets and if possible getting them to purchase the tickets sooner.” ISC owns or operates 13 tracks and “controls 54[%] of the Sprint Cup race dates.” Discounts in ’09 have led to an overall 2% “drop in prices for Sprint Cup races at ISC tracks this year,” and ticket prices next season are “expected to drop by another" 3-5%, on average. The company next season expects to have lower prices on a total of 500,000 seats, representing “about one-third of the company’s tickets.” Advance sales -- those made more than three or four weeks before a race -- have declined by 25-30% at ISC tracks through the company’s first three quarters, and ISC “expects a similar response from fans next year.” In an attempt to “clip away at those problems,” the company has “emphasized ticket renewal incentives.” Offers include “all-you-can-eat programs with the purchase of a ticket, gas cards” and extended payment plans. Saunders said that ISC tracks “won’t offer additional discounts as race day approaches.” Instead, the company “wants to make sure the best offers go to the loyal fans who come year after year and who renew their seats early” (SCENEDAILY.com, 10/13).
