AEG Aquires Streaming Media Management Firm Incited Media

AEG has acquired streaming media management and production firm Incited Media "as part of an effort to expand its services into the broadband Internet and mobile content space," according to Antony Bruno of BILLBOARD. AEG "will merge Incited Media into its AEG Productions division, creating a new entity called AEG Digital Media." AEG Productions President Michael Goldfine "will run the unit," while Incited Media execs Joe Einstein, Ben Rolling and John Petrocelli "will all remain with the new unit in various capacities." The new unit "will serve to stream events live over the Internet as well as archive footage for after-the-fact monetization on the Internet and mobile phones." Petrocelli said that he "expects artists will grow increasingly interested in extracting more revenue out of live events as recorded music sales continue to falter" (BILLBOARD.biz, 10/5). HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Paul Bond noted Incited Media is "known for its live webcasting of such major events as the Olympics, the Democratic National Convention and Live Earth." Meanwhile, AEG Productions was created in February and was "instrumental in the Michael Jackson Tribute for Staples Center" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 10/5).
