Cowboys Stadium To Host One-Day PBR Event In February

Event Reportedly Will Be Largest
One-Day Event In PBR History
The PBR and the Cowboys Friday announced that Cowboys Stadium will host a Built Ford Tough Series event on February 20. The Dickies 2010 Iron Cowboy Invitational presented by WinStar World Casino will feature a head-to-head tournament format created specifically for this event. PBR CEO Randy Bernard in a release said it will be the "largest one-day event in the history of the PBR." As part of its presenting sponsorship, the casino will host a pre-event party on February 19 (PBR). Bernard said that the winner of the event will "take home the largest payout ever for a one-day event, at least $260,000." Bernard: "When I first met [Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones] he said, '''I don’t want the world finals that are in Las Vegas, but I want an event that is the very best one-day event in the history of the sport.' We’ve had a couple years now to think of it and we wanted to create an event that is so over the top it is an event that a PBR fan must see" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/26). In Dallas, Jeff Mosier reported PBR officials "plan to sell 65,000 tickets" to the event, "which will cost between $20 and $150" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/26).

SUPER STADIUM: Fox Senior VP/Field & Technical Operations Jerry Steinberg, the net's "point man on preparing for Super Bowl broadcasts," said that Cowboys Stadium is "ready from television's point of view" to host Super Bowl XLV in '11. In Dallas, Barry Horn noted that assessment was "seconded by NBC Sports producer Fred Gaudelli, who was responsible" for the September 20 "SNF" broadcast of Giants-Cowboys from the stadium, and ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer Jay Rothman, "who is overseeing" the net's broadcast of Panthers-Cowboys "MNF" tonight. Gaudelli: "Everything worked great -- camera sight lines were next to perfect and from an audio standpoint we were able to pull out great field effects even with 105,000 people. I give it very high marks from a technical standpoint" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/27).
