Wild To Date Have Sold Out All 368
Games Played At Xcel Energy Center |
Tickets are “readily available” for Wild games this upcoming season for the “first time in the history of the 10-year-old NHL franchise,” according to Bruce Brothers of the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS. The Wild to date have sold out all 368 games played at Xcel Energy Center, and Wild COO Matt Majka said that the team's October 6 home opener against the Ducks is “close to a sellout.” But Brothers reports the club has been advertising that “good seats are available for all Wild games,” and the struggling economy has “prompted the Wild for the first time to sell single-game tickets for two home games only to people who also purchase tickets to another home game.” Team officials also are “helping customers who want to share season tickets find someone with whom to partner.” The Wild have a season-ticket waiting list of 7,000, but Majka said that many on the list “have passed on buying season tickets because only the expensive ones remain.” Still, Majka in an e-mail said, “We feel very fortunate that almost 90[%] of our loyal season-ticket holders renewed with us this year” (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 9/27).
SUITE DEAL: The PIONEER PRESS’ Brothers in a separate piece noted five Wild players -- G Niklas Backstrom, C Mikko Koivu, RW Martin Havlat and Ds Nick Schultz and Brent Burns -- have purchased three of the 66 Xcel Energy Center suites and are “dispensing tickets for those suites to charitable causes this season.” The annual cost of a suite at the arena is between $100,000-200,000 (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 9/27).
