Exec Search Firm Begins Interviews For LPGA Commissioner Post

Spencer Stuart, the executive search firm hired by the LPGA to help identify the next commissioner, began interviewing candidates this week and will continue scheduling interviews over the next two or three weeks. LPGA board member Leslie Greis, who leads the league's search committee, informed players in early August that she expected Spencer Stuart to submit candidates for final consideration by the end of September or early October. Acting Commissioner Marty Evans told numerous sources on separate occasions last week that she still has no interest in pursuing the job full-time (Jon Show, SportsBusiness Journal). GOLFWEEK's Forecaddie reports the LPGA would "like to have a new commissioner in place" by the LPGA Tour Championship in November. WNBA President Donna Orender, former LPGA CMO Bill Susetka and PGA Tour Frys.com Open President Duke Butler reportedly "wouldn't mind a call" (GOLFWEEK, 8/29 issue).
