Ginn Files Counterclaim Against PGA Tour After Mediation Fails

Ginn Development Co. Files Counterclaim In Its
Dispute Over Canceled PGA Tour Sponsorships
Ginn Development Co. filed a counterclaim in its dispute with the PGA Tour after the two parties completed a 60-day court-mandated mediation without resolving their differences over Ginn’s canceled sponsorship of two Tour events. The tour sued Ginn on January 30 after the company issued a press release announcing the “end of its sponsorships of professional golf,” which included an event on both the PGA and Champions tours from '07-11. Ginn on July 10 filed a counterclaim for a $175,000 minimum charity payment that was withheld by the PGA Tour. Ginn claims it historically paid charity dollars in advance and was later reimbursed by the Tour. The court has not set a date to hear arguments in the case.
