NISL Wave Will Continue Operations If New Owner Is Approved

The NISL Wave "could be ready to start its 26th consecutive season in Milwaukee this fall," provided the franchise's sale to former Wisconsin-based World Class Wire & Cable President Jim Lindenberg is completed, according to Charles Gardner of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The franchise "seemed in danger of going out of business just a few weeks ago," but Lindenberg "signed a letter of intent Friday to purchase the team." Eight Wave staff members who had been "laid off went back to work on Monday," including COO Mike Lafferty, "with the aim of increasing the team's season-ticket pledges from 600 to 1,000." If "sufficient progress is made toward that immediate goal, the sale could be made official as early as next week." NISL Commissioner David Grimaldi said that the league "will receive a significant boost with the addition of the Milwaukee Wave." Grimaldi "hopes to have seven to nine teams in a restructured NISL for its second season" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 7/28).
