The Ohio Lottery Commission yesterday "approved instant games for both" the Bengals and Browns, according to Joe Reedy of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Pending approval by the Ohio Controlling Board on Monday, tickets "would go on sale in late August," and both games would be "sold statewide, meaning fans in Greater Cincinnati could purchase both tickets." Reedy notes tickets will "cost $5 each with a top prize of $100,000," and there also would be a "second-chance drawing that would offer prizes like merchandise, autographed gear, season tickets and road trips." Lottery tickets "would not be available at Paul Brown Stadium since the facility is not a licensed lottery vendor" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 7/22). In Seattle, Danny O'Neil reports the Seahawks also have signed a deal in which the team's helmet and logo are "featured on a Washington Lottery scratch ticket" that went on sale yesterday. The ticket's top prize is $500,000. Non-winning tickets also "can be entered in a second-chance drawing for a nine-night stay in Miami and tickets to the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl in 2010," with that drawing taking place January 19. O'Neil notes "part of the proceeds of the Washington Lottery go to paying down the debt on Qwest Field and Event Center and Safeco Field" (SEATTLE TIMES, 7/22).

FINANCIAL HEALTH: In Chicago, Brad Briggs reports the Bears have signed a three-year deal with NorthShore Univ. Health System to add a patch to the team's practice jerseys. NorthShore also will "have a presence on the Bears' Web site, in publications, and in signage at Soldier Field." The value of the deal is unknown. Meanwhile, the Bears will not partner with the state lottery, though the team "gave it consideration before passing." Bears Senior Dir of Corporate Communications Scott Hagel: "From an organizational standpoint, that is not the kind of partnership we are going to pursue" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 7/22).
