Super Bowl XLV Host Committee Secures Nine $1M Sponsors

The Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, which is holding the '11 game at Cowboys Stadium, "has landed nine" $1M sponsors and a "contract for a 10th is being examined by lawyers," according to Jeff Mosier of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Super Bowl XLV Host Committee President & CEO Bill Lively said that an 11th sponsor "could be finalized by late July," which would "leave the organization just shy of its goal of 15 founding sponsors, an unprecedented number" of $1M contributors. Lively said that he "hopes he can reach that number by the end of the year." Lively: "The economy has slowed us down. ... If it had been two years ago, I suspect we'd (have) been finished with all 15 founding sponsors by now." Mosier notes the sponsors "will pay for about half of the committee's estimated budget of nearly" $30M for the game. That could "also be a Super Bowl record." Lively said that the "next big push" to attract more sponsors will start at the beginning of the '09 NFL season. Until then, the effort is "ramping up this summer to sign second-tier sponsors able to pay a few hundred thousand dollars rather than" $1M. The host committee hired Premier Partnerships to "pursue that market." The first seven announced $1M founding sponsors for the game are BNSF Railway, Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Texas-based infrastructure company Fluor, real estate firm Hillwood, real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr. and Mrs. T. Boone Pickens and former lawyer Ted and Shannon Skokos (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/6).
