Douglas Will Be Featured In Promos
For Grocery Chain Kroger
The Pacers and WNBA Fever Wednesday announced a five-year sponsorship deal with Kroger, making the grocery chain an official sponsor of the Fever and exclusive supermarket sponsor of the Pacers. Financial terms were not disclosed. Wednesday's announcement featured the "unveiling of a Kroger sponsorship sign on the Jumbotron at center court" at Conseco Fieldhouse (INDYSTAR.com, 7/1). The deal includes ads on TV radio, print, billboards and the Internet (AP, 7/1). Pacers F Danny Granger and Fever F Katie Douglas "will play a role in promotions." Kroger replaces Marsh, whose contract expired Wednesday (WTHR.com, 7/1).

KEEPING IT REAL: adidas AG Chair & CEO Herbert Hainer said that the company "will benefit from Real Madrid's signing" of MF Cristiano Ronaldo and MF Kaka. adidas produces Real Madrid's uniforms, and Hainer said, "This opens a lot of alternatives for us as well to build a commercial business around these two players and of course a successful team." More Hainer: "We are quite excited about that and of course we'll try to support Real to use this opportunity in a commercial way" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 7/1).

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE: Nike has announced a limited edition set of three basketball shoes commemorating the worldwide premiere of Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." The collaboration includes the Nike Zoom Flight Club, Nike Zoom FP and Nike Sharkalaid complete with special packaging and retro graphics. Nike worked with Hasbro, which produces the Transformers toys, on the project (Nike).

POWER SURGE: The Blue Jackets have signed a three-year extension with Columbus-based American Electric Power (AEP). AEP has been affiliated with the team since the '07-08 season and the primary component of the agreement is a pair of dasherboards at Nationwide Arena (Blue Jackets).
