49ers COO Andy Dolich Discusses Planned Santa Clara Stadium

Dolich Says 49ers Stadium Will Have Most
Seats In Lower Bowl Of Any NFL Stadium
49ers COO Andy Dolich appeared on CSN Bay Area's "Chronicle Live" and said the team's planned stadium in Santa Clara will have the "most seats in a lower bowl of any stadium in the NFL, and that really is key because you want to see the action." Dolich added, "This is going to be a California-type stadium, meaning that it is open. It is a circumstance where fans will be able to move around, see the beauty of a day like today and not essentially feel that you are closed in." The 49ers need to generate 90% of the capital for the new facility, tentatively scheduled to open for the '13 NFL season, and Dolich said, "First and foremost, it is the democratic process and the citizens from the city of Santa Clara will vote on it. In terms of coming up with the money, working with the NFL is important. Northern California is one of the greatest marketplaces in the country. ... The level of disposable income ... if you just look at Northern California, and not just the Silicon Valley, all of Northern California, you've got some of the leading firms in the world." More Dolich: "This is a really fertile marketplace with seven or eight pro teams, many quality college teams, the Presidents Cup, tennis tournament. You got your challenges here, but as long as there is wealth creation in Northern California, and there will be for a long time, then we have got a good shot to make it work, and yes, the hardest part is coming up with that debt." Meanwhile, Dolich also discussed using coach Mike Singletary's feistiness in team marketing efforts, and said, "If I can just show a pair of eyes and that is my marketing campaign, I am in pretty good shape" ("Chronicle Live," CSN Bay Area, 6/24).
