Obama Will Throw Ceremonial First Pitch
At '09 All-Star Game In St. Louis
PRESIDENT OBAMA will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the '09 MLB All-Star Game at Busch Stadium on July 14. Obama will be just the seventh U.S. President to attend the All-Star Game, and just the fourth to toss out the first pitch, following JOHN F. KENNEDY, RICHARD NIXON and GERALD FORD (MLB).

KISSED BY A ROSE: Reps for Nuggets F CARMELO ANTHONY confirmed that he is leaving BDA and signing with CAA for representation. Sources indicated that Anthony will retain the services of agent LEON ROSE. The deal with CAA "isn't official yet, but it is imminent" (DENVER POST, 6/24).

OH HENRY: BLOOMBERG NEWS' Kambiz Foroohar in an extensive profile of Red Sox Owner JOHN HENRY, reported John W. Henry & Co.'s (JWH) $123M Global Analytics fund ended '08 with a 91% "return for the year, in contrast" to the 38% drop in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. JWH invests in "more than 80 markets, among them coffee and gold futures." Henry's "computer programs look for trends that last more than 30 days," and he has "stuck with the strategy since he founded JWH in 1982." When Henry's programs "find a trade, he bets as much as six times the fund's assets and about double what peers wager" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 6/23).

Massachusetts Gov. DEVAL PATRICK at the event gave Biden a Red Sox Jersey with "VPOTUS 2" on the back (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/24)....Monday's Phillies Phestival at Citizens Bank Park raised a record $867,670 to fight ALS. More than 5,500 fans attended the event (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 6/23)....Cowboys offensive linemen Leonard Davis, Marc Colombo and Cory Procter have “signed a recording contract” with Australia-based Riot Entertainment for their heavy metal band, Free Reign.
