Three May Concerts At Fenway Generate More Than $6.5M In Sales

Dave Matthews Band Shows, Phish Show
Generate Over $6.5M In Sales At Fenway Park
The three concerts at Fenway Park late last month generated more than $6.5M in ticket sales, according to numbers provided by Billboard Boxscore. The two Dave Matthews Band shows, May 29-30, resulted in a ticket gross of $4.8M, with 65,215 in attendance. The lone Phish date, May 31, grossed $1.7M with a sellout crowd of 34,906. Live Nation promoted all three concerts. Red Sox Exec VP and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Sam Kennedy would not discuss revenue splits. Every deal is different, industry officials say, but in a traditional facility rental agreement, the artist keeps 85-90% of ticket sales with the promoter keeping the remaining 10-15%. As the venue operator, the Red Sox, owner of Fenway Park, generate most of their revenue from food concessions and parking. The team does not have to share that income with other MLB clubs.
