Octagon
Retains Hamm
SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Jon Show reports Octagon has retained former Stanford Financial CMO SUZANNE HAMM for a "leadership consulting role on its golf events and athlete representation business." Hamm will "initially take on strategic planning within Octagon's golf event and athlete representation groups," and she also will "work with sponsors of athletes and events on brand messaging and the importance of social responsibility in the changing economy." Hamm will have a "leadership role in Octagon's golf division alongside" co-Managing Dirs CHRIS HIGGS and GIFF BREED (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/15 issue).

EXECS: Rose Bowl CEO MITCH DORGER said that he will step down from the role after the BCS National Championship Game on January 7, 2010. Dorger turns 63 in September, and he said, "It seems like a good time to do it. ... I've always been a believer of changing out people to keep the energy of the organization fresh" (LATIMES.com, 6/12)....Orange 21 Inc. named ERIK DARBY VP/Sales. Darby, who previously has served in sales and management positions with Nike, Pony, adidas and Converse, will direct all sales operations for the North American market (Orange 21)....Patriots Dir of Media Relations CASEY O'CONNELL is leaving the position after eight years to attend law school (BOSTON HERALD, 6/15)....Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the NHL Panthers named EDWARD ANDREWS as an inside sales rep (THE DAILY)....The AHL Springfield Falcons named WILLIAM BULLOCK Senior Account Exec (Falcons)....High Point Univ.
