Deal With Barclays Bank For New Arena |
The Nets are expected to announce a sponsorship deal with China-based appliance manufacturer Haier "within the next several days," according to Charles Bagli of the N.Y. TIMES. Haier, which also serves as the official HDTV of the NBA, "will have a store within" the team's planned Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The value of the deal is unknown. The Nets already have a $400M naming-rights deal with Barclays Bank for their new arena, and they also have "signed eight other 'founding partners,' or sponsors, including Anheuser-Busch, Cushman & Wakefield, Emblem Health and Phillips Van-Heusen." There also "will be a Jones Soda Shoppe and a Foxwoods club" at the facility. Nets Sports & Entertainment President & CEO Brett Yormark said of the Haier deal, "We're talking to a lot of people about Brooklyn. Nothing is ready to be reported" (NYTIMES.com, 6/11).
