MLS Fire President Attends Game As Fan To Get New Perspective

Greeley Says Fire Have Considerable
Pre-Game Activities, But Could Do More |
MLS Fire President Dave Greeley said he recently attended a Fire game as a fan in order to "get a different perspective," according to Ed Sherman of CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS. Greeley during the game "did everything like a normal fan" -- he "parked in a regular lot, purchased seats from the ticket window, and got food from the concession stands." During his experience, Greeley "noticed there aren't enough signs directing fans" to Toyota Park once they leave the highway. Greeley: "We need to have more signs that make it clearer where Toyota Park is." Greeley said that while the Fire have "considerable pre-game activities around the perimeter of the stadium, more could be done in terms of incorporating music, bands, etc." When Greeley "went to a ticket window and informed the attendant that he wanted four seats in the shade," he was "given tickets tucked behind a TV camera well." As a result, a "small portion of the field was obscured." The seats also were "bleachers with no cupholders." Greeley: "From now on, we're going to tell people those seats are partially obstructed. ... Our people need to know the variations of the products we're offering so they can make suggestions. [The attendant] could have said, 'For a few dollars more, you could have (the seats with the cupholders).'" Greeley said of his experience, "There's some things we need to work on, that we need to tweak. But there are so many positives to experience at one of our games. We have a great story and we need to tell it more" (CHICAGOBUSINESS.com, 6/10).
