Giants QB ELI MANNING and his wife, ABBY, are bankrolling a new birthing center at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan. The hospital will run full-page ads, created by Della Femina Rothschild Jeary & Partners (DFRJ), N.Y., to announce the new hospital in the N.Y. Times, N.Y. Observer and Independent (DFRJ). Meanwhile, former NFLer ARCHIE MANNING appeared on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" this morning to promote his involvement with Craftsman for Father's Day where "different fathers can write an essay and win $1000" worth of Craftsman items. During the interview, Eli Manning called to speak with Archie. Archie told Eli, "I thought you were supposed to be practicing today?" ("Fox & Friends," Fox News, 6/9).
DALLAS NEWS: Cowboys Construction Manager & Stadium GM Jack Hill, the man "put in charge of operations for the $1.15[B] venue after overseeing its construction," was the "only suspected drunk driver arrested leaving Saturday's Cowboys Stadium opening." Hill was arrested around 3:30am CT Sunday "after he was involved in a minor traffic accident" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/9). Meanwhile, Cowboys scouting assistant RICH BEHM "returned to his home Friday after spending nearly a month at the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation." Behm "had been in the rehab center since May 8, less than a week after being paralyzed from the waist down when the team's indoor practice facility collapsed" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/9).
XBOX OFFICE: In New Orleans, Mike Triplett reported a screenplay Saints coach SEAN PAYTON came up with as a "summer project" two years ago now is "being shopped around Hollywood by talent agency CAA." The movie, currently titled "The Xbox Kid," is "about a boy from a poor family in New Orleans who starts controlling the outcome of NFL games through a refurbished Xbox given to him by his grandfather after a devastating hurricane." Payton said that the idea for the film "came to him when his son, CONNOR, would play upcoming Saints games on his Xbox during the 2006 season" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 6/7).
CHARITY STRIPE: Several Red Sox players yesterday, including C JASON VARITEK and P TIM WAKEFIELD, participated in a "high-stakes poker" event to raise money for the local Pitching in for Kids Foundation, which benefits hospitalized children and their families. Patriots coach BILL BELICHICK and Celtics F BRIAN SCALABRINE also were expected to attend the event (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/9)....Former NBAer ALONZO MOURNING appeared on ABC's "GMA" this morning, where he discussed his charitable efforts. Mourning said of his Alonzo Mourning Charities, "What we want to do is provide educational opportunities for kids, get them to value education, help them understand the importance of it and make sure that they're put in a position where they can be productive citizens" ("GMA," ABC, 6/9).

Evans is "projected to be a lottery pick, possibly among the top five selected" in the June 25 draft (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 6/9)....BROADCASTING & CABLE listed Turner Sports Exec VP/Ad Sales & Marketing JON DIAMENT among its '09 "Next Wave of Leaders." During the last 12 months, Diament has been "finding ways to help advertisers score sports sponsorships that don't just make the hard sell but entertain and involve viewers with the company's properties." Diament: "In sports, it's really important to have a true passion for what you do.
