Indians, Browns Team Up In Marketing Plan To Sell Suite Packages

Fans Can Buy "MVP Suite Packages" Which
Include Tickets To Indians And Browns Games
The Indians and Browns are "teaming up in an unusual marketing plan to sell luxury suite packages for two games at Progressive Field and one at Browns Stadium," according to Bill Lubinger of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. In a partnership "initiated by conversations between Indians President Paul Dolan and Browns Owner Randy Lerner a few months ago, fans can buy what the teams are calling 'MVP Suite Packages,' which consist of two options." The first option is called the "Touchdown Package," costs $15,000 and pairs suites for Indians games against the Cardinals and Tigers with a Steelers-Browns matchup. The second option is called the "Home Run Package," costs $10,000 and includes suites for Indians games against the Cardinals and Reds and a Packers-Browns matchup. Both packages "include 14 tickets and three pairs of parking passes for each game, standard food service, excluding alcoholic beverages, and team ball caps." Lubinger writes the partnership "reflects the economy's drag on such business perks as sports loges." The 145 suites at Browns Stadium have "historically been sold out since" the team rejoined the NFL in '99, but 10-year contracts "came up for renewal just as the economy soured." Many of the suites, which were leased for $30,000 to $125,000 per year, "weren't renewed." Browns VP/Finance & Administration Dave Jenkins "wouldn't say specifically how many are available beyond 'a couple dozen suites' that the team was working to renew for this season." At Progressive Field this season, "78 of the ballpark's 121 suites were leased for all 81 regular-season home games," while the other 43 suites are "offered for rent by the game for $2,200 to $4,700, based on location." Indians Senior VP/Sales & Marketing Vic Gregovits "considered the suites offer an extension of existing partnerships the Indians and Browns have with broadcasting agreements with SportsTime Ohio and the Clear Channel radio network" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 6/4).
