Ohio Lottery Instant Ticket Game
Will Soon Bear Browns' Logo |
Browns VP/Communications Bill Bonsiewicz said that there soon will be an Ohio Lottery instant ticket game "bearing the Browns' logo," according to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Bonsiewicz said while the Browns already had a sponsorship deal with the state lottery, the new resolution approved by NFL owners last month "allows us to expand on it." Bonsiewicz: "I think we will have (an instant game) deal prior to the season" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 5/31). Ohio Lottery Deputy Dir of Marketing Services Terri Tancredi confirmed that the lottery "has talked to both the Bengals and Browns about partnering for a scratch-and-win ticket." Tancredi: "We already have sponsorships with both teams and have started a dialogue. They're excited and we're working with product development right now to see if the numbers work." Tancredi noted that the lottery had "considered doing a ticket with both teams on it, like they did with the Reds and Indians, but would likely go with a Browns ticket in the northern half of the state and a Bengals ticket" in the southern region. The game could be in place "by late September" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 5/30).
SEA OF GREEN: In N.Y., Gary Myers cited sources as saying that the Jets and the state of New Jersey are "in serious discussions about the state using the Jets logo on a scratch-off lottery game" this season, and an announcement "could come in the next week." The Jets also have been "negotiating with New York and Connecticut about similar games." Meanwhile, the Giants have yet to reach any lottery partnerships, but a team source said they "are not ruling it out." Myers noted the Mets and Yankees each have had "games in the New York state lottery with a Subway Series instant game ticket" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/30).
DOUBLE STANDARD? The Steelers are in negotiations with the Pennsylvania state lottery about a partnership, and in Pittsburgh, Ed Bouchette wrote, "The NFL forced some Rooney brothers out of Steelers ownership because their horse and dog tracks are legal racinos?" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 5/31).
