Executive Transactions

In Chicago, John Jackson reports the Bulls yesterday promoted Dir of Player Personnel GAR FORMAN to GM, replacing JOHN PAXSON, who will remain with the organization and retain his title of Exec VP/Basketball Operations. Paxson still will be "involved in all basketball decisions and will have the final say on all major personnel matters." Jackson notes the move is "more a case of Forman being promoted than Paxson taking on a lesser role" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/21).

EXECS: New Balance announced President & COO JIM TOMPKINS will depart from the company in early June (New Balance)....On Long Island, Neil Best cites two sources as saying that MSG Exec VP/Programming & Production LYDIA MURPHY-STEPHANS "has left that post" and "plans to do consulting work." The split appears to have been "amicable" (NEWSDAY.com, 5/21)....Dial Global named MICHAEL SCHRECK Dir of Sports Sales. Previously, Schreck was National Sports Manager with Westwood One Radio Networks (Dial Global)....Apparent Gravity Media (AGM), an extreme sports and youth culture lifestyle producer and distributor, appointed NICOLAS BONARD and COURTNEY WILLIAMS to handle European sales, increasing the company’s distribution presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Bonard and Williams will both be based in London and will oversee AGM’s sales and distribution activities throughout those regions (AGM).
