Turnstile Tracker: WPS Averaging 5,339 Fans Through First 22 Games

For the first 22 games of Women's Professional Soccer's (WPS) inaugural season, the league is averaging 5,339 fans per game. The L.A. Sol lead all teams, with 8,319 fans per game at The Home Depot Center. Looking back to the similar period of the inaugural season of the WUSA in '01, the WUSA was averaging 9,233 fans per game, led by the Washington Freedom. The Freedom, led by F Mia Hamm, were averaging 27,915 fans per game at RFK Stadium. The current iteration of the Freedom are averaging 4,803 per game at the Maryland SoccerPlex, which has a capacity of 5,200. No teams in the WPS currently play in venues used during the inaugural season of the WUSA (THE DAILY).
