Hurricanes Expect Contingent Of Penguins Fans For Games 3 And 4
 |
About 500 Tickets Have Been Purchased
By Pens Fans For Games In Raleigh |
Hurricanes Dir of Ticket Sales Kyle Prairie said that the team "expects a contingent of Penguins fans" for Games Three and Four of the Penguins-Hurricanes Eastern Conference Finals, but added that the club is "not worried about Penguins fans dominating the RBC Center," according to Ray Fittipaldo of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. Prairie: "We do expect a large number of Penguins fans. But primarily, those are transplanted Pittsburghers who live here. Every time we play Pittsburgh, we have a decent number of people with Pittsburgh shirts on." The two games, which will be played on Saturday and Tuesday, are sold out, and Ticketmaster "provides reports that break down how many tickets are purchased and from which locality." Prairie said that "only 150 accounts for the three games scheduled in Raleigh [including a potential Game Six] originated in the Pittsburgh area." The average ticket account is "three people, so he estimated that about 450-500 tickets were purchased by people from Pittsburgh for the games at the RBC Center." Prairie said that the team was "bracing for more Penguins fans to attend Saturday night because of the holiday weekend, but the response from local fans in the Raleigh area made that a nonissue." Prairie said that the "only time the Hurricanes block area codes and ZIP codes" for ticket purchasing is during the Stanley Cup Finals. Fittipaldo notes the Penguins had a "similar policy until this season" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 5/20).
