Lingerie Football League In Discussions With Two NFL Groups

Mortaza Says LFL Rolling Out
10-Team League This Fall

Lingerie Football League (LFL) Founder Mitch Mortaza said the league is "in discussions with two NFL ownership groups, several AFL and two MLS, and then several celebrity and former NFL great-backed groups" about investing in franchises, according to CNBC’s Darren Rovell. Mortaza “is rolling out a 10-team league this fall,” and he said, "Just the success we've had with the Lingerie Bowl, we thought if we can grab that kind of an audience as a one-off halftime special, what if we built more of a year-round brand." Mortaza said the LFL is a "single-entity league," as it will "retain 51% ownership of all the teams, but we will have in-market majority team owners." Mortaza said, "We have to be at least 60% capacity of these major NBA, NHL, MLS venues that we're in," or "on average, a little over 8,000" fans per game. Mortaza added there is "no salary" for the players. Mortaza: "The players get a percentage of the gate based on them winning or losing and there's a big discrepancy between those percentages" ("Street Signs," CNBC, 5/18).
