Chiefs Name Longtime Employee Denny Thum Team's New President

Thum Will Become Fourth
President In Chiefs History |
The Chiefs Friday announced DENNY THUM would become the fourth President in franchise history, according to Adam Teicher of the K.C. STAR. Thum, who had been serving as interim President since replacing CARL PETERSON in December, will be "responsible for all business aspects of the organization and everything outside of football operations." Thum will oversee "tickets, marketing and sales and Arrowhead Stadium construction and operation," among other responsibilities. Chiefs GM SCOTT PIOLI, who like Thum reports to Chair CLARK HUNT, will be in charge of "negotiating player contracts." Thum: "I've been given opportunities to go ahead and use my talents. They've been satisfied with what I've done, and I've been afforded the opportunities to continue to grow with this organization." Teicher noted Thum joined the franchise in '74 as a staff accountant. He "moved up the administrative ladder," becoming Accounting Dir in '83 and Assistant GM in '89. Thum became Exec VP in '06 (K.C. STAR, 5/9).
