SDF co-Founder Keith Ochwat said that the film's focus is a "baseball team that serves as the region's only activity 'where segregation is broken.'" Ochwat and SDF co-Founder Christopher Rufo "figure their documentary will be a niche film shown at art-house theaters and on university campuses" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 4/28).

OPENING SALVO: The WALL STREET JOURNAL’s Hannah Karp notes “TYSON” opened Friday and “grossed $86,000 at the box office on 11 screens over the weekend,” and was produced by Nuggets F CARMELO ANTHONY’s Krossover Productions. Krossover Productions will next produce a film “based on the life of” Baseball HOFer ROBERTO CLEMENTE (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 4/28).

ABC's "Ugly Betty" Filmed Friday At
Citi Field During Nationals-Mets Game
NOTES: In Boston, Marc Spears noted Celtics coach DOC RIVERS and Spurs F MICHAEL FINLEY attended Maywood Proviso East High in Illinois and “nine NBA players have come from this nationally known basketball program.” Former Proviso East High student FRANK GRACE has “produced and directed a 60-minute documentary called ‘Pirate Pride,’ which tells the story of the basketball program’s tradition.” Grace is hoping that the documentary is “picked up by the likes of HBO, ESPN, or Comcast, but he hasn’t had any inquiries yet” (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/26)....ABC’s “UGLY BETTY” "shot part of its May 21 season finale" at the Nationals-Mets game Friday at Citi Field. Scenes were “filmed mostly before and after the game.” Mets Exec VP/Business Operations DAVE HOWARD: “It’s a nice branding exercise to reach additional audiences – not your typical demographic Mets game” (AMNY.com, 4/26).
