Spring Mobile Secures Naming Rights To Salt Lake Bees Ballpark

Deal Also Includes Prominent Signage On
Ballpark's Exterior And Interior
Utah-based Spring Mobile has acquired the naming rights to the Triple-A PCL Salt Lake Bees' ballpark, and the company's execs "believe that a boost in name recognition will be worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent" on the transaction, according to Martin Renzhofer of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE. The deal, which will change the venue's name to Spring Mobile Ballpark, is for five years "with options to add two other five-year increments." Randy Rigby, who is President of Bees Owner Larry H. Miller Group, "declined to name the fee amount, but said it was six figures per year." Franklin Covey's previous 10-year naming-rights deal cost $1.4M. Spring Mobile President & CEO Jason Ellis said, "We think this is a nice compliment to our customer base. As fun as it was to name the ball park, this was a business decision. Right now, 40[%] of those shopping in our stores are buying (Bees) family plans" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 4/8). In Utah, Loren Jorgensen notes the ballpark's name change "comes prior to the start" of the team's 16th season at the facility. The deal also "includes exclusive sponsorship and advertising rights, and prominent signage on the exterior and interior of the building." Spring Mobile has stores in Utah, Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming. The privately-owned company "has 40 locations along the Wasatch Front and employs more than 300 people, including more than 200 in Utah" (DESERET NEWS, 4/8).
