Prudential PLC Emerges As Favorite To Win ManU Jersey Deal
U.K.-based financial services company Prudential plc is in talks with EPL club Manchester United for the club's jersey entitlement, and negotiations reportedly have been "ongoing for weeks and an agreement is not far away," according to Geoff Foster of the London DAILY MAIL. ManU's current jersey sponsorship deal with AIG expires after the '09-10 season, and a Prudential spokesperson confirmed that the club had approached the company. Samsung, Saudi Telecom, AirAsia and Indian companies Sahara and Tata "have all been approached by United, which is keen to tie up a shirt sponsorship deal with a Far-Eastern group." But Prudential, which has "extensive operations in Asia," now is the "favourite to win the battle" (London DAILY MAIL, 4/7).
