Tottenham Looking To Accommodate More
Fans With Proposed New Stadium |
EPL club Tottenham Hotspur said that the "capacity of their proposed new stadium will be 58,237 and, as they push towards the submission of a planning application later this year, they hope to complete their move" in the '13-14 EPL season, according to David Hytner of the Manchester GUARDIAN. Tottenham officials believe that they have "outgrown their White Hart Lane ground, which can hold only 36,214 fans." Tottenham has "another 22,000 on the waiting list for season tickets." The team has "drawn up plans to build a new stadium to the north of the current site and they intend to continue playing at White Hart Lane while the construction takes place." Naming rights would be an "essential part" of the stadium's funding. The stadium would "accommodate 1,358 supporters in 132 corporate boxes," and the latest plans will be revealed tomorrow "as part of a second public consultation" (Manchester GUARDIAN, 4/1). In London, Richard Bright reports the stadium plans include the "possibility of an ice rink outside the ground," as well as a 150-room hotel. The design also allows the team to "seat spectators closer to the pitch" (London TELEGRAPH, 4/1).
