Golfer Greg Norman this morning was introduced as the latest member of the TaylorMade stable, an intriguing association given his status as a part owner and chairman of another golf equipment company. In addition to playing TaylorMade clubs and balls, Norman will wear a small TaylorMade logo on the side of his hat and play out of a TaylorMade-branded bag. MacGregor’s logo appeared on Norman’s bag and the side of his hat as late as this February. The shark logo from Norman’s eponymous apparel collection will continue to appear on the front of his hat and on his shirt. He will not make any appearances or appear in ads on behalf of the California-based company. Terms of the deal were not available, but industry sources estimated it was in the low-seven figures annually. Norman’s reps had been seeking a five-year term in the low-to-mid seven figures. It could not be determined if the association will affect Norman’s involvement with MacGregor Golf. The Georgia-based company bought the Greg Norman Collection from adidas after Norman purchased an equity stake in MacGregor in '06. MacGregor sold the clothing line to the Tharanco Group this past February. The 54-year-old Australian will play in The Masters next week for the first time since '02, and plans to return to the British Open in July after finishing tied for third in that event last year. He will also captain the international side of the Presidents Cup in September.
